Gymboree (http://www.gymboree.com/) has introduced their latest line of clothing- Shade (http://www.shadeclothing.com/). Shade (http://www.shadeclothing.com/) is a line for women and includes a range of maternity clothes (http://www.shadeclothing.com/shop/asst_department.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=25343743 06255951&PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524445996505&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474395917465&bmUID=1313672672001). Though now branded as a division of Gymboree, Shade is actually anything but new.

Previously, Shade was an independent women’s clothing company known for their modest wear. In 2010, the company announced they were closing their stores (http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=675&sid=11969732) and website due to the economic trouble, but were hoping to have a reemergence to the market in 2011. No other details were given by the company at that time.

This is Gymboree’s second trip into the women’s clothing department. Their previous venture Janeville (http://www.bizjournals.com/sanfrancisco/stories/2006/10/02/daily34.html) closed it’s doors in 2006, after only 2 years of business. The company said at the time that they wanted to focus on their core- the children’s clothing market.

They have regular clothes too. We used have stores here. My friend loved that store. It started in Utah.... Who knows if the mom was really a gymboree mom or not... The Bain company probably made that part up for the new website!

Ive been wearing shade for years.
My swimsuit is from them now. They have the best cami's and tops ever. They have regular, maternity and girls.
In fact my brother was there attorney when they went out of business and then gymbo bought them.

I was surprised to hear this, too. Bain must have bought them out. I was hoping they would put out swimsuits this year when they re-opened, but they didn't. Luckily, I stocked up in everything they had left in my size for swim separates when the company dissolved a while back, so I have some spare suits, but I LOVE their swimwear! (Or at least what they used to have!)

Does anyone know how their stuff runs? I am thinking about buying a tee and a pair of the fold over lounge pants but I don't want the pants if they are going to be really long...

TIA :)

Interesting! I hope it's cute and nice quality. I remember Janeville. I never had anything from them, but I have a friend who loved Janeville. :)
